Two WIPs
I am working in a scarf for my mom. She doesn't know it yet. So, Mom, if you are reading this: surprise!
I am doing this in JoAnn's Sensations Rainbow Boucle. I have never worked with boucle before, but it is not fun. I have to crochet much more slowly than I am used to, so it seems like it is taking forever. But it does look nice and I know my mom will love it.
This is the humble beginnings of a star-shaped afghan that I am doing to consolidate my yarn stash a little bit. It is getting a little out of hand for my small apartment.

Center pull skein
Here is a wonderful tutorial for a center pull skein. I have tried to make these before using a different method and ended up with skeins that were too tight to actually pull the yarn from the center. However, the use of pencils in this tutorial makes it look like it might keep the center of the ball just loose enough to let the yarn come out when you are ready to use it.

Enthusiasm meets inexperience
I ran into a little problem with the sweater that I posted about before. I made the armholes too big and now I don't really know how to crochet on sleeves that need to be significantly smaller than the holes. I tried a few things, but it was just making the fabric bunch and pucker. I will be setting that project aside for now and moving on to something else in the meantime. Maybe it is time to follow someone else pattern for a little bit.
